Power-Glide Language Program

Pennsylvania Virtual Charter School is excited about its continuing partnership with the Power-Glide foreign language program. Power-Glide language courses use teaching methods that immerse students in an engaging language learning experience. This program provides an opportunity for children to acquire the skills necessary to speak and understand a new language. Course offerings include French, Spanish, German, Latin, and at the high school level, Chinese.

High School Access

These directions ONLY apply to those students in the High School. Student in the Middle School or Elementary School should see the Middle/Elem School Access directions further down this page.

  1. Log onto the OLS as normal. [screen shot]
  2. On the resulting page, generally referred to as the Personal Student Homepage, the student will then click the My Courses tab. [screen shot]
  3. The student's courses will appear "rolled up" under the Course List header. Clicking the "+" sign will expand and show all of the courses assigned to the student. [screen shot]
  4. Finally, the student should click the link to the link to his/her foreign language course. This will launch the student's course in the PGLMS, in a separate window, where the student will access his/her foreign language material. The student does not need to log in to Power-Glide to gain access to her course content. [screen shot]
  5. If you're one of the lucky ones that K12 has provided the easiest route to, you'll now see the Power-Glide calendar. This is where you'll find your Assignments. [screen shot]
  6. If the calendar did not appear, you most likely got a page that looks like the screen shot. Click again on the name of your couse, this time. Please look at the screen shot for this one: [screen shot]
  7. Now you are ready to leave the OnLine School and go to Power-Glide by clicking on the link that says "Click here". [screen shot]
  8. You should now arrive at the calendar screen as noted in step 5. If, instead of the calendar screen, you arrive at any other screen or if you are prompted for a username and password, call K12 technical support: 1-866-626-6413, option 2. [screen shot]
  9. NOTE: At the time of this writing, Power-Glide will time-out the login after approximately 30 mins.

 

Middle/Elem School Access

These directions ONLY apply to those students in the Middle and Elementary schools. Student in the High School should see the High School directions.

  1. Each elementary or middle school student will receive a username and password from Power-Glide for login to his or her foreign language course.
  2. Go to pglms.com
  3. The student can enter the username and password to gain access to the course content and online activities.
