In-person Parent Information Sessions

Our parent information sessions are your chance to interact with the PAVCS staff while you learn more about our program. During these 60-minute Q&A assemblies, we’ll review our curriculum, demonstrate our lesson plans, review our materials and answer whatever questions you may have. This is also a good time to turn in enrollment forms. Come join us at a session near you!

If you are interested in finding more detailed information about the Pennsylvania Virtual Charter School, you can attend online sessions at the times scheduled below or call 1.866.728.2751 and ask for enrollment to schedule an in-person session at our administrative office.

Please check this section routinely for future schedules dates.

Education Showcases

Our education showcases are intensive, 4-hour events to help energize and enlighten you for the coming semester. These showcases allow you to: meet other parents, benefit from helpful workshops, interact with school staff, and hear about the PAVCS program from one of our education experts.

New Parent Orientations

You will hear helpful tips and techniques, access best practices, and learn proven methods of guiding children through our curriculum — information that will help you attain initial success with our program. You’ll also have a chance to orient yourself to the K12 curriculum, meet teachers, talk with administrators, and network with other parents. So make sure you attend one of these vital inaugural sessions near you!

Every Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in July we will have "New Parent Orientation" sessions. These session will be held via Elluminate. Please use this link to join into the session. Please check out the Elluminate Support Page if you have any connection issues.

Family Spotlight

The best way to understand how the Pennsylvania Virtual Charter School helps families educate their children at home is to hear it from the parents themselves. See the letters below from some of our parents, or check out one of our "Day in the Life of a PAVCS student" videos. Maybe you’ll see yourself in their experiences as they share how PAVCS helped them to:

Meet the unique needs of your child

“I have been raising my 13-year-old grandson for the past six years—his entire school life. From his first day of school, all I ever heard from the teachers was how bad he was, how he disrupted the other children, and that he should be on medication. After school was also a nightmare. This tiny little child was carrying half his weight in books and homework, with a message telling me what I was to teach him. I’d spend as much as five hours into the night with a sleepy little boy. Then we enrolled in PAVCS. I see a different child, one who is more sure of himself and not afraid to do his homework—in fact he is eager. I am totally amazed at this new kid. He is no longer ashamed of himself and he is so proud of his work. I’m remembering things that I haven’t done since I was in school 30 years ago, and he is so amazed that I know the answers.”

Provide learning consistency

“PAVCS has provided us with the opportunity to monitor our children’s learning and behavior very closely. Daily, we can check their progress and if gifted in a subject, the program allows for advancing as fast as they can without being bored and causing behavioral problems.  Being at home also offers a multitude of skills such as learning to cook, type, accounting processes, discussion of world affairs, continuous visits to the local library and its programs, and so much more. We are thrilled we made the decision to join PAVCS.”

Educate your child in a nurturing, supportive environment

“My second grader is a very smart young man, but very easily distracted and has a very difficult time concentrating for long periods. The one-on-one I have been able to give him with this excellent curriculum has made a remarkable difference. I also have the help of a teacher whenever I need it. Best of all, the time I have spent teaching and being with my child is priceless. Watching his face light up when he learns or finally understands something would be missed if he was at a conventional school.”

Satisfy a customized lifestyle

“Public schooling my children at home is such a pleasure for our family. My husband works second shift, often seven days a week. If the boys weren’t enrolled in PAVCS, they would go days in a row without seeing their dad. We enjoy raising and teaching our children, and we have very close contact their teachers on a daily basis. My children no longer have to spend two hours a day on a school bus. The quality of the education that my boys are getting is far better than any “brick and mortar” school education that they received in the past. Let me also add my boys are learning faster, and enjoying themselves while doing it. Furthermore, it’s nice to be able to have a choice on where my children go to school.”
– PAVCS parent of 4th and 7th grade students

Make the move from traditional homeschooling to public virtual schooling

“It has been wonderful watching the girls gain the knowledge and skills PAVCS has to offer. I love it because it is mom-friendly and I do not have to put as much into the teaching as I was with the hodge-podge curriculum I was using as a homeschooler. I was using what I could get for free or at little cost, so as a result it was not all the same and I had to pull it all together to teach—a lot of work. It has been wonderful to just click and read, or review the teaching guide and go. I am glad that we are here.”
