Welcome to the Pennsylvania Virtual Charter School (PAVCS)!
I am delighted that you are interested in our excellent opportunity of educational choice in public education. Our school is a public virtual charter school in operation since 2001. PAVCS provides excellence and innovation in education to students in Kindergarten through 11th grade across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Our unique model of education joins parents, teachers, family support coordinators and an excellent curriculum in what we call the PAVCS Diamond Model Partnership. At the anchor of this partnership are committed parents who are willing to make tremendous sacrifices to be actively involved in their child’s daily education. PAVCS parents are never alone. You will be guided every step of the way as you “coach” your child through his or her education by teachers who have many years of experience in education and caring family support coordinators. Additionally, there is the support proved through the digital and traditional materials of the K12 Inc. curriculum.
K12 Inc., a mastery and research-based curriculum will provide you with all the books and materials you will need. The curriculum includes our online school, digital lessons and assessments for each subject, all text books, CDs, videos, art supplies and even musical instruments. Every PAVCS student is loaned a computer and a printer. Since PAVCS is s a public school, there is not any cost for the curriculum, materials, computer and printer.
Even though our school environment is home-based and virtual, our school constitutes a strong community. PAVCS students engage in monthly outings, museum visits, school-sponsored programs, and co-curricular activities such as virtual chess clubs, novel discussions, Legorobotics and many more. We provide many opportunities for social interaction with our teachers and other PAVCS parents and students. Our school also has a very active parent-teacher organization, Partners in Education (PIE), in which you can participate. Our community is connected virtually through the Blackboard learning platform.
Right now, in more than 460 cities and towns across the state, our families are experiencing the wonders of a virtual education, directed by experienced PA certified teachers who guide and support the partner-parents/adults. In addition, our school is fully equipped to serve all children, even those with special needs and challenges.
